Diwali

Daddy came home early in the morning and I realised he hadnt been around for 8-9 days. He was apparently in the US on business and has got back a lot of stuff for me :) It was good to see him. We went back to sleep around 4 AM.

Today is Diwali. I got up around 7. My mommy and grammy massaged me with oil and then I got a special, Diwali bath. Daddy filmed it all.

Happy Diwali, everyone!

daddy writes:
The weather is rather cold in Pune right now and Mihir's cold/cough are back again. He is very uncomfortable so we will be taking him to a doctor today. We did think of buying him some sparklers and other firecrackers but they all pollute a lot so it may not be good for him, so we finally decided against it. Will take some pictures in the next day or two and will post them. And daddy is foto-shy so he seldom appears in any pictures :)

9.50 PM update
We dressed him up for a short while in the evening and here is a picture. He continues to be cranky though and isn't in his best spirits today, so we did not take him downstairs to see all the fireworks. And btw, he also turned 10 months over the weekend.

Kojagiri

Today is Kojagiri - the specific full moon night when mommies do an 'arati' (they light a set of lamps and then swirl them round and round your face) of the eldest child. Since I am the eldest child (!) in the house, my mommy did arati for me and even gave me a new dress as a gift. My gramma did it for my mommy since she is the eldest in her house...daddy is not eldest (Preeti Atya is older than him) so he did not get the privilege.

I wore my Tiger dress this evening... I was waiting to wear it for long and I loved it. Here are the pictures:

my first (official) haircut - you like it?

I had been in the need of a haircut for long now. The last time I got one, it was a quick 'snip snip' around the ears and above the forehead by daddy and mommy and my hair had grown pretty long since then.

Mommy took me to Akalpita Maushi's place in the afternoon today. Akalpita maushi is mommy of Esha and Ameya (my friends from the building across) and also runs her own beauty salon. She is very good, so mommy decided that the honour of doing my first haircut should be given to her.

Check out my transformation:

MISHI

Here is a picture of my new cousin(Shilpa Maushi's baby). Daddy and mommy have still not taken me to Mumbai to see him. Doctormama (as ever) has sent us this picture...doesn't he look very cute?

I dunno what they are naming him, but I have already named him MISHI - a japanese name to match his japanese eyes, and it also comes from the first letters of his parents' names - MIlind and SHIlpa :o)

fantastic four-day weekend

On Thursday, Manu Kaka and Archana Kaku arrived on a 4-day visit with their two daughters Anushree (13) and Bhagyashree (aka Chiku, 10). The moment I saw Anu Tai and Chiku Tai, I knew I loved them. They got me a baby gym and even assembled it for me. I like Archana Kaku a lot too...Manu Kaka is ok, but he will be a lot better without his moustache. Here is a picture of them all

I had a lot of fun with them. They both played with me a lot. They even took me on an outing to Lonavla on Saturday. Here are a few pictures from our Lonavla outing.

Mihir took an instant liking for Anu and Chiku and it was the same from their side. We were all sad when they had to leave yesterady afternoon. Mihir was asleep then and Chiku was hoping that he would wake up to say goodbye.
Anushri was in tears and I too felt very sad that such a good visit had to end.
Mihir woke up about 10 mins after they left and has been going to each of the bedrooms looking for Anu and Chiku after waking up.

He is noticeably upset that he cannot find them around. He repeated this even today morning - he woke up and went straight to the guest room and then looked in the other rooms.

Here is a pic of Mihir eating Pizza out of Chiku Tai's plate:

Mihir at 9 months: Typical Day

A typical weekday is like this:

6 to 7 AM: Wake up
6 to 7 AM: Potty (Steps one and two frequently overlap each other)
7 to 8 AM: Daddy or Mommy gives him a bath. Breakfast and play with grampa
8.30 AM: Savita (the governess) arrives
9.10 AM: Go downstairs with Savita to say 'bye bye' to Grammy
9.15 AM: Mingle with the other people who are also waiting for the bus, one Shilpa maushi among them gives him bus tickets to play with every day
9.15 AM: Daddy and mommy slip away to office quietly
9.15 to 9.30 AM: Go the temple (within the housing complex) and say hi to God
9.30 AM to 11.30 AM: Try to sleep, dont sleep, try again, dont sleep
11.30 to 12.30 AM: Lunch - an elaborate procedure where grampa sings and dances and Savita makes him eat. He acts very pricey and demands new tricks and different recipes each day
12.30 (post lunch): Play with grampa while Savita has her lunch, then sleep
12.45: Odd Dreams, wake up
1 PM: Sleep
1.15 PM: More Odd Dreams, wake up again
1.30 PM: Sleep
2 PM: Wake up and play with grampa and Savita. Some fruit if the mood is right
2 to 4 PM: Play and some more sleep
4 to 5 PM: Savita takes him downstairs in the garden
5 to 6 PM: Start remembering daddy and mommy and become cranky
6.30 to 7 PM: Daddy and Mommy arrive, scenes of joy and reunion; Savita leaves for the day
7.30 PM: Dinner
8 PM(Post Dinner): Gramma puts him to sleep
9 ish (any time mommy is just about to sit for dinner): Awakening dreams/cry/potty/anything that can stop mommy from having dinner. All negotations with daddy/grammy/grampa fail, mommy has to stop her dinner at once
10 or way after the world is asleep: Mihir goes to sleep and mommy gets dinner

9 months old!!!

I turned 9 months old on the 30th. These are the things I can do now:

1. Stand up on my own when something is available for support
2. Crawl on all fours and roam the entire house
3. Do 'clap clap' and 'bappa jai jai' on demand
4. Make a wide spectrum of noises

We had been to Ria's birthday party yesterday but I suddenly started a running nose and was feeling a little warm so mommy daddy took me back home early :(
I wanted to have fun there...there were all the other babies and there was also Tweety :)

Daddy said we will go to Rajmeet uncle's house again sometime to meet Ria (hopefully Tweety will be there too then). We went shopping for Ria's birthday gift earlier in the evening and bought two dolls - one each for Mihir and Ria. I have already pulled the hair off my doll, I will see if Ria can match that when I visit her plce.

The bump on my head is better now.
